The Deep, Review by Ross Hewitt

Here at Silver Cross we encourage our staff to review any family outings they go on and share them with their colleagues. This got us thinking; why not share it with our community as well? So we have! This week’s post comes from Silver Cross’s Ross Hewitt who visited ‘The Deep’, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world!. Located in Hull, East Yorkshire it is home to over 3,500 fish, including spectacular sharks and rays.

“The Deep is an excellent place to take kids of all ages, but especially toddlers, who are interested in all aspects of sea-life. The aquariums are huge, covering all shapes and sizes of underwater creatures and the interactive learning tools are fascinating for adults too. It’s likely that toddlers will just want to press their faces against the glass of the tanks, but there is enough here to keep them happy and occupied for at least a couple of hours.

The catering area is baby/child friendly too, with high chairs available and a good choice of meals. There is a charge for car-parking, but that includes a couple of quid off any purchases of food or gifts from the (very good) gift shop.

The Deep is a charity, and you pay a moderate amount to get in the first time, but by ‘joining’ you can go as many times as you like after your first visit for the rest of the year for a smaller donation (or free, if you like).

I would rate this a great half day out as there is not enough to fill a full day, but I’ve always found that is ok with very little ones.”

So, if you’re in the area, why not take a look! Alternatively, if you’ve been to The Deep tell us what you thought about it!
