The Surf All Terrain pram system is the ultimate all-rounder, perfectly at home in the town or country. It’s been designed to take you and your baby anywhere, on any terrain – in comfort and with ease, right from day one.

From classic to cool

What’s truly ingenious about the Surf All Terrain is the extra jogger wheel attachment, which comes as standard.

It really is child’s play to switch from classic four wheel configuration to cool three-wheel off-roader. In a matter of seconds, you’ll be all set to go off exploring – while your baby enjoys a ride like no other.

View our demo video to see for yourself how easy it is to fit the jogger wheel, and get running.

Revolutionary design

Drawing inspiration from mountain bike technology, other key design elements include:

  • Ground-breaking air-ride suspension
  • Larger wheels for a smoother ride
  • Rugged off-road puncture-resistant tyres with a chunky tread
  • Unique bamboo fabric babynest that’s suitable from birth

It looks great too with the three original colours, Zinc, Nevada and classy Quartz. And the hard-wearing fabrics and durable finishes mean it can cope with whatever’s chucked at it. Whether from the ground or the sky.

  • Select the base unit, which includes the Surf chassis, zinc seat unit, unique babynest, large shopping basket, Simplicity car seat adaptors, protective rain cover and cup holder, plus the jogger wheel attachment
  • Choose the hood and apron colours from Zinc, Nevada or Quartz
  • Choose between Zinc/Quartz or Nevada/Quartz for the reversible seat liner

Once you have chosen your pram, you can purchase from a wide selection of original, coordinating accessories.

The Dorchester Nursery Collection – beautifully traditional

Dorchester Nursey

Today we are talking to Laura and Chris who have designed the beautiful Dorchester Nursery Collection for Silver Cross.

Laura Hibbert and Chris Dwyer Silver CrossWhere did the idea for the Dorchester range come from?

Within the Silver Cross nursery furniture range there is something for everybody with contemporary and classic designs. With the Dorchester range we wanted to create a classically styled set, because we felt that Silver Cross customers who look to an established brand with such a strong heritage would really enjoy bringing their new baby home to a lovely traditional nursery. We also wanted to include lots of features that would be practical for new parents, and make sure the furniture could be enjoyed by the family for years to come.

What was your inspiration for the range?

We looked at furniture from the Queen Anne period (1720 – 1750) and Early Baroque (1690 – 1720); in addition to this, the classic features on the beautiful sleigh cot bed come from designs prominent in the early 19th century. So we used all these classic eras to draw inspiration for the colour, finish, curves and the lovely turned bun feet on this range. We also wanted the furniture to sit well within the modern home, so we made sure the lines were smooth and clean, the furniture was easy to put together, and made good use of modern fixtures and fittings for practicality.

How is the furniture made and what wood is used?

The furniture is manufactured using small machinery and hand tools to create a unique finish with lots of individual character. It is made of solid pine and a small percentage of mixed material for structure, and finished in a gorgeous rich dark cherry.

What is it that makes the design so special?

A lot of time and thought has gone into the design to allow the combination of traditional styling and practical features, so things like being able to use the cot bed as a daybed and toddler bed, whilst keeping the beautiful sleigh design is a unique aspect. And the curved changer top, which can be removed if required, gives an added flexibility and longevity to the range.

What is unique about the range?

We love the curved detailing around the top of the wardrobe and the turned bun feet, but what is really lovely is the way this styling does not affect the large storage this wardrobe provides. With two hanging rails, one of which you can remove when the baby grows up, plus the large shelf and deep drawer, there is plenty of space for everything inside.

What does the range cost to purchase?

The collection of 3 pieces, with the Silver Cross white glove service which includes delivery and build in your home, costs £1600.

It’s still the Wayfarer; just not as you know it!

After four years in development, we’re thrilled to be able to finally put all the rumours to rest. The original Silver Cross Wayfarer buggy – best seller in the 1980s and 1990s – has undergone a complete overhaul to meet the needs of today’s parents and 21st century lifestyle.

Wayfarer Launch

Prior to its trade launch at the Harrogate Nursery Fair, a select few lucky journalists and mummy bloggers were invited to a preview event at The Ivy Club in London.

A modern classic

The new Wayfarer travel system is a stylish, durable and contemporary package. Adaptable from carrycot to multi-position reversible pushchair in one flick of a button, it has been designed to cope with the demands of modern urban living. Based on customer feedback, we’ve kept many of the popular features of the original, such as the large shopping basket, signature rectangular shaped chassis, secondary footrest and ease of use.

But we’ve also added some all-new benefits, including a press down release brake (to save scuffing your toes), extra long extendable handlebar (for men up to 6’4”) and handy cup holder included as standard. The apron and hood sets come in a choice of six snazzy colours. It is also extremely lightweight and compact: the chassis weighs only 6.5kg and folds small enough – with one hand – to fit into a Toyota Yaris.

Silver Cross will also be bringing out a baby car seat called Simplicity later this year so keep watching this space for more details on this.

Amazing response

Since the Wayfarer launch event, we’ve been overwhelmed by the response in the media. Click on the links to see for yourself what reviewers are saying:

The new Wayfarer combination pram system will be available in stores from May 2013 for £495 (£395 for the base unit which includes chassis, carrycot, pushchair seat and car seat adapters, £100 for the hood and apron pack).
Meanwhile, now that you’ve had a chance to see it for yourself, we’d love to hear what you think.
